One thing I recommend is to scan the artwork at a high resolution. Of course, with JP carts, you can't easily access the PCB because of the seal on the back of the cart. However, there are other much better ways to tell if this is a fake, but they require actually possessing the cart. That it doesn't match in these makes me lean towards genuine. Color differences don't really mean anything because of camera and light settings, not to mention the possibility that the reference original might have fading.įinally, if somebody went to the effort of throwing together a new label with perfectly placed copyright and logo, they would probably take care to make sure the trim matched. The two cart labels you've posted DO have the correct positioning of the copyright and TENGEN logos, unlike in the previous thread, which was an obvious fake. There is always some variation in how professionally printed material is trimmed, and I think it's not uncommon for there to be up to 3 mm variation, which is why you need a 3 mm+ bleed. The issue of the label not aligning with the edges the same way as other confirmed carts could just be how that batch of labels was trimmed. There might not be enough in the pictures to tell if these are fakes. Would any of you guys with access to a complete original Snow Bros care to comment? I don't have any inserts or manuals for comparison. It has a very slightly different appearance / position of the artwork on the cart label to the examples above. I will take a photo of it and add it if necessary. I have a loose Snow Bros cart that I bought many years ago that I'm 99% sure is real. Usually all this bootleg crap isn't an issue but one of these sold for 1000 Euro and the other is currently listed at $850. I marked the areas on the attached photo. The colours also seem to be a bit too bright. The image appears to have been moved up and to the left with extra artwork appearing along the bottom and right edges and details missing for the left edge. I was doing a bit of research and came across these two ebay listings:įrom close inspection of the cartridge stickers in the auctions it appears that they have some of the characteristics of bootlegs as described in the thread above.
